Attention Parents/Guardians:

Crossroads has a number of on-line resources to keep you informed.  Students will be given report cards to bring home at the end of the 1st semester; only year-end grades will be mailed home.  Parents may always access ParentVue to monitor grades, assignments and attendance.  All school information is available online; please read on.

  1. Keep Your Information Current: All parents are required to complete and sign an updated registration form for their student(s) at the beginning of every school year.  It is important that we have current contact information for you at all times – phones, email and address.  Please make sure any changes to your contact information are communicated to our office, including email addresses, so we can keep you informed.

  1. ParentVue: ParentVue is the parent communication portal to monitor grades, assignments, attendance and more; we strongly encourage parents to use this tool.  Parents who are new to the district will receive their activation codes on Student Orientation Day, before the start of school.  If a student enrolls mid-year, an activation code will be provided to parents.  Otherwise, to request an activation code, please email cnezwek@nvps.net and include your name and the student(s) name(s).  Please allow up to 48 business hours to receive your activation code.  (Note:  students receive their own StudentVue accounts)

  1. Weekly Parent Email Blast: – parents who provide an email address will automatically receive a Friday News email, providing information about current/upcoming events, fundraisers, etc.

  1. Crossroads Website: net/crossroads-middle-school/  Our main website has a variety of helpful links including all the items on this page, a school calendar, and staff directory, just to name a few.

  1. Online Homework: (see “Academics” tab, then “Classrooms” on net/crossroads-middle-school/) has weekly homework posted. Check here to stay current on your student’s class work and for homework assignments if he/she has missed school.

  1. Student Portal (http://student.nvps.net ) – students can get their school email, as well access tools and school work.

  1. Instant Alert: Alerts parents to school delays and closings, and also provides authoritative updates when critical events occur.  Go to https://instantalert.honeywell.com to personalize your account.  For assistance, please email cnezwek@nvps.net

  1. Deposits to Lunch Accounts: may be brought in to the school or paid online for a small fee (go to the Northview District website, then to “Food Services” and then to “Pay for Meals Online”)

Watch our website, nvps.net/crossroads-middle-school/, for additional updates and links!

If you have any concerns or questions about your child’s progress, please contact your child’s teacher directly.  Email addresses and telephone extensions are located in the Staff Directory link on our website and in the Student Handbook.

Welcome to Crossroads Middle School!  We are happy to have you join our community.  We are a 7th/8th grade building and typically have about 500 students and 60 staff in the building.  You will receive ongoing, important information in our Friday Parent Email Blast.

Getting Started at Crossroads…

  • School Hours – warning bell in at 7:35 am; classes begin at 7:40 am.  Dismissal at 2:30 pm (on ½ days, dismissal time is 10:55 am).  Building opens at 7:00 am and students are not allowed to remain in the building after school unless they are participating in a scheduled activity.  The office is open from 7:15 am to 3:30 pm on regular school days.
  • Student drop-off and pick-up is in the parking lot on the east side of the building.
  • Bus Garage phone number is 361-3480.  If you want your student to ride a bus home, other than one he/she is scheduled to ride, YOU must call the bus garage directly and make arrangements ahead of time.
  • Absences must be called in to the office, daily, unless prior arrangements have been made.  The main office number is 361-3430; an answering machine is available to take your message during non-business hours.  Provide your name, your student’s name and grade, and the reason for the absence.  If your student is out ill, please state the type of illness (for public health reporting requirements).
  • Student appointments may be called in to the office ahead of time; we will have the student waiting for you in the main office at the specified time.
  • Tardy arrivals must be called in to the office; otherwise it will go as unexcused.
  • Lunch accounts may be paid in person – or online for a small fee.  The online link is on the main Northview website (“Food Services” on the right side; then “Pay for Meals Online”).  Our finger-point scan program is used to provide hot lunches to students and track accounts. Students who run a negative balance in their account will be given a sandwich for lunch.
  • Free/Reduced Lunch: Enrollment must be done each year in the fall; only one form is needed per family for the school district (you do not need to do a separate form for each student).  Forms are available at each building but we strongly encourage you to fill the form out online at www.lunchapp.com
  • Athletic participation requires a sports physical and a concussion form to be on file in the main office before try-outs (no exceptions; this is a state law).  Sports physical forms are available in the main office or online at the Northview website (“Print a Sports Physical Form” link on main page).  Concussion forms are available in the main office.  (Our fax is 363-7868)
  • After-school help is available from September into May (specific dates TBA) on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  A 4:00 pm bus is available for students who live in-district; students must remain with the teacher from 2:30 until 4:00 pm, in order to be allowed on the bus.  The front office also has a list of NV-approved tutors whose services are available at a modest cost. The IMC is open until 4:00 pm, Monday-Thursday for computer access.
  • Medications:  Medication forms are available in the Main Office and the Guidance Office for both over-the-counter and prescription medications.  All medications are stored/locked and dispensed through the Guidance Office; students are not to carry medicine on their persons (arrangements can be made through Guidance if a student needs to carry an inhaler).  No medication can be dispensed to a student unless it has been sent in from home and a medication form is on file at school.
