08 Oct NHS Advanced Theater Arts Presents….
ONE-ACT PLAY: RADIUM GIRLS
On October 16 at the Max Colley Jr. Performing Arts Center, students in the NHS Advanced Theater Arts class will be performing the one-act play, Radium Girls by D. W. Gregory. In 1926, radium was a miracle cure, Madame Curie an international celebrity, and luminous watches the latest rage—until the girls who painted them began to fall ill with a mysterious disease. The women in the factories had been told the paint was harmless, and subsequently ingested deadly amounts of radium after being instructed to “point” their brushes on their lips in order to give them a fine point. Inspired by a true story, Radium Girls traces the efforts of the employees, all dial painters, as they fight for their day in court. Radium Girls is a fast-moving, highly theatrical ensemble piece of actors, who play more than 30 roles.
Curtain time is 7:00 pm and admission is free.
