05 Sep Welcome and Introduction from Drew Klopcic
Dear Northview East Campus Students and Family-
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as we begin the 2017-2018 school year. My name is Drew Klopcic and I am the new Coordinator of Student Supports at East Campus. My role will be very similar to a traditional Dean of Students. I grew up in Grand Rapids and graduated from Michigan State University with a major in English and a minor in Journalism. Prior to coming to Northview, I worked at Grand River Preparatory High School in Kentwood where I taught English for the past five school years. While at Grand River, I also worked as the Assistant Athletic Director and coached numerous sports. I am currently the JV football coach here at Northview as well. Go Wildcats!
I am incredibly excited to be joining the East Campus staff. Our team has already been hard at work to ensure that this school year is a great success. We will be emphasizing the Skills For Success (employability skills) this year, and I truly believe you will be seeing a difference in our students as they are evaluated in these areas throughout the year. I believe strongly in the power of building positive relationships and maintaining constant communication, so I plan to model both of these daily.
I hope my new role will add to the strong culture and experience that East Campus already has in place. As I stated earlier, I believe that communication is essential in building a solid rapport and school environment, so please don’t hesitate to call or email me with any questions or concerns you may have in the future. I know it is cliche, but my door is always open.
Once again, I am looking forward to a great school year and to meet you all soon. I am honored to be part of the Northview community and continuing the excellence that has already been established.
