The Kent ISD Bright Beginnings Program is a partnership between Kent ISD and Northview Public Schools. The Blue Ribbon program provides services to families with children prenatal to
kindergarten through home visits, playgroups, screenings, and community referrals. Bright Beginnings Parent Educators deliver services to families in Northview through the Parents as Teachers model, which is a parent education and family support program. Parents as Teacher believes that all parents will be their children’s first and best teachers.

Parents as Teachers (PAT) is designed to empower ALL PARENTS and caregivers to give their children the best possible start in life. PAT provides developmental information for children ages prenatal to kindergarten and suggests learning opportunities to encourage language, intellectual, physical and social/emotional growth. Home visits will work on setting goals, connecting to community resources, help parents track and monitor their child’s developmental milestones, bring in ideas of activities to practice at home, and many more things to support families and prepare children to start school.

Playgroups are another fun way to play and learn with your child. Once enrolled in Bright Beginnings, families can attend any playgroup in the county, with Northview school district groups held at West Oakview Elementary School, 3880 Stuyvesant NE, at least twice a month. For a current list of playgroups, visit BBplaygroups.kentisd.org for up to date times and locations.
