Welcome to Highlands! We are a 5th/6th grade building and typically have about 425 students enrolled and 50 staff members. You will receive ongoing information from us every Friday in an email blast called Highlands Highlights. Below is some important information about our building.

School Hours

7:55 AM: Doors Open (breakfast begins)

8:05 AM: Warning Bell

8:10 AM: Classes Begin

11:25 AM – 12:00 PM: 6th Grade Lunch

12:00 PM – 12:35 PM: 5th Grade Lunch

3:15 PM: Dismissal

 

Students are not allowed to stay after school and wait for sports practices to begin unless they begin at 3:15 PM.

 

Student Drop-off and Pick-up

Use the parking lot to the east of the building by the gym entrance. The front area is for busses and staff parking only.

Registration 

Students need to be registered every year for transportation. If you need to change your students after school transportation (bus/pick up line), please call the office by 1:00 PM.

 

Absences/Tardy Arrival

Absences must be called into the office daily unless a preplanned absence form has been completed and turned in. Absences and tardy arrival can be called into the main office, left on the voicemail or sent via email to the main office email above.

If a student arrives late, they must be dropped off at the front of the building and sign in to get a tardy pass.

 

Early Pick Up

All students must be signed out in the main office by a parent/guardian or approved pick up person. Please park in the front parking lot to come into the building and sign your student out.

 

Volunteering 

Volunteers are need to help make Friday Fun days successful. We also ask volunteers to pop popcorn, work the holiday shop, field day or attend field trips. A new volunteer consent form must be filled out every school year. https://nvps.net/volunteer-in-our-schools/

 

ParentVue

ParentVue is the parent portal to monitor grades, assignments, attendance and update registration information. ParentVue Portal

 

Progress Reports/Report Cards:

Progress reports and report cards will be uploaded into ParentVue for viewing purposes. Only the final report card for the school year will be mailed home.

Medications

Medication Forms are required for dispensing any medications, both over the counter and prescribed. The form can be found online using the link above or in the office. All prescription medications require a physician signature. Parents must personally bring in medications and they may not be sent in with students.
