The objective of Northview Next Learning Center is to help all students between the ages of 15 and 20 acquire a NVPS diploma, regardless of their circumstances. To that end, Northview Next Learning Center will offer extended hours of operation, including summer and evening hours, so that students can design a schedule that accommodates work requirements, health issues or other barriers to participating in a traditional high school schedule.
Students attending Northview Next Learning Center will benefit from “wrap-around” services that include:
On-site teacher
Online instructor
District mentor
Job services
Social and emotional support services
“The future of our workforce depends on the education and support we provide for our students now,” said Brent Dickerson, principal of Northview Next. “We give students hope by showing they have the skills employers demand and can truly be successful learners in the classroom and on the job site. We guarantee students who graduate from Northview Next will feel prepared and inspired to be life-long learners.”
Featuring programs such as Career Awareness and Preparation, as well as Future Focused Fridays, NVPS is a leader in readying students for success after graduation. These programs allow students to pursue hands-on work experience through internships, job shadows and part-time jobs. Leaders at the district introduced Northview Next to further support students and Northview alumni as they enter the workforce.
